Phoenix Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes has agreed to sell the bankrupt franchise to the NHL. The agreement, which still must be approved by Judge Redfield T. Baum, was announced in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Monday.

The Atlanta Thrashers have a month to preview their possible future without star forward Ilya Kovalchuk. Kovalchuk, the Thrashers' captain and one of the league's top scorers, is expected to miss three to five weeks with a broken bone in his right foot.

Nathan Horton's day with the Stanley Cup was shortened when the trophy was caught up in a flight delay. Tammy Plante-Horton, wife of the Boston Bruins forward, tweeted that the cup was lost in Boston before it was to cross into Canada. Thousands of people are in downtown Dunnville to celebrate the Cup's arrival with a parade.

The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Erik Gudbranson to an entry-level contract. Gudbranson was the team's first-round pick in the 2010 draft, going third overall. The 19-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, had a goal and an assist, along with 17 penalty minutes, in six preseason games with Florida last fall.

The Chicago Blackhawks hope to reclaim the Stanley Cup in 2011-12 by adding a splash of physical and experienced players to a core of younger and highly skilled stars. And the look of the Blackhawks' new lineup came into focus Friday as the team opened its sold-out annual convention at a downtown Chicago hotel.

The Buffalo Sabres have reached agreements to re-sign defenseman Dennis Persson and forward Travis Turnbull each to one-year contracts. Persson, the Sabres first-round pick in the 2006 draft, has spent the past two seasons in the minors. He has five goals and 21 assists for 26 points in 132 career games in the American Hockey League.

The Calgary Flames have re-signed forward Brendan Morrison to a one-year deal. The 35-year-old Morrison will make $1.25 million next season, the team announced Friday. Morrison's 2010-11 season ended in March because of a knee injury that will keep him out of action through the start of 2011-12. The veteran had nine goals and 34 assists in 66 games with Calgary last season.

The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed defenseman Taylor Chorney and center Ryan O'Marra to one-year deals. The 24-year-old Chorney had a goal and three assists in 12 games for the Oilers last season. He has one goal and six assists in 56 career games since being drafted by Edmonton 36th overall in the 2005 entry draft.

The New Jersey Devils signed Swedish defenseman Adam Larsson, the No. 4 pick in last month's NHL draft, on Friday to a three-year, entry-level contract. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello announced the deal during a conference call, hours before a league deadline for players under contract in Europe to sign in order to be eligible to play in North America in the upcoming season.

The Winnipeg Jets added Charlie Huddy, Wade Flaherty and Tony Borgford to their coaching staff Friday. Huddy will be an assistant coach, a job he's held in the NHL the last 12 years with the New York Rangers, Edmonton and Dallas. Huddy also spent 18 seasons in the league as a defenseman, winning five Stanley Cups with the Oilers.

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane has a fractured left wrist and will need 6-8 weeks to recover. The team disclosed the injury Friday, saying it was discovered recently during his offseason training. Blackhawks team Dr. Michael Terry says Kane will have surgery on Tuesday to repair what he called a scaphoid fracture.

Andreas Nodl's new contract with the Philadelphia Flyers is reportedly worth $1.69 million over two years.

Nodl will make $845,000 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, which is a slight pay cut from the $850,000 he earned last season. He had 11 goals and 22 points in 67 contests in 2010-11.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will not make a qualifying offer to Sami Lepisto.

Lepisto had four goals and 16 points in 70 games with Phoenix and Columbus last season. He is now scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Anton Stralman has not been given a qualifying offer by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

That means Stralman will become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. He broke out with a 34-point campaign in 2009-10, but he regressed last season, scoring a goal and 18 points in 51 contests.

Tom Sestito has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Sestito was scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer. He had four goals and a staggering 40 penalty minutes in nine NHL games last season. He added another 35 points and 237 penalty minutes in 57 AHL contests with the Springfield Falcons and Adirondack Phantoms in 2010-11.

Andreas Nodl has re-signed by the Philadelphia Flyers.

The financial terms of the deal are not yet know, but Nodl would have been a restricted free agent if he didn't agree to a contract extension. Nodl had 11 goals and 22 points in 67 games last season.

The Washington Capitals have placed Tyler Sloan on waivers.

This might be a step towards buying out Sloan's contract. He's owed $700,000 for the 2011-12 and he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2012. Sloan had a goal and six points in 33 games last season.

Semyon Varlamov is reportedly not likely to re-sign with the Washington Capitals.

Varlamov is a restricted free agent and he might end up playing in Russia next season. He has said that he's willing to take less money to play in North America, but the difference between what he would make in the KHL compared to what Washington is offering him might be significant. It's believed that he could get roughly $4 million annually in the KHL, but Washington isn't likely to offer him anything near that figure. He would probably enter the 2011-12 season as Michal Neuvirth's understudy and the Capitals probably want to pay him accordingly. Stay tuned.

With Brent Burns gone, look for Marco Scandella to compete for a spot on the Wild's 2011-12 opening game roster.

Scandella got his first taste of NHL action last season, registering two assists in 20 games. The former second round pick isn't expected to have any fantasy value next season.

The Minnesota Wild think very highly of newly acquired prospect Charlie Coyle.

Coyle, along with Devin Setoguchi and a 2011 first round pick were acquired by Minnesota from San Jose in exchange for Brent Burns and a 2012 second round pick. "There is no way this deal gets done if Charlie Coyle's not in it," Wild GM Chuck Fletcher said. "We feel he's one of the top young power forwards in the game." Coyle had seven goals and 26 points in 37 NCAA contests last season.

Mario Lucia, who was recently drafted by the Wild, will play in the NCAA next season.

The Wild selected Lucia with the 60th overall pick in the 2011 NHL entry draft. He considered a long-term project, so the fact that he's going to college makes sense. He grew up in Minnesota, so he could eventually become a fan favorite with the Wild.
